Dear 2014

published on Sunday, December 28, 2014

This year has by far been the craziest and most stressful year of my life (all 15 years). I kicked off the year with high hopes, but they quickly fell  as time passed. I'm trying to stay optimistic for the new year, but I don't want to get my hopes up. Though 2014 has brought me great struggles and distress, I've had a few good times. I started my sophomore year! I'm never too excited for school, but nevertheless, I'm so grateful I only have two years left. My greatest 2014 victory was definitely the new bonds and friendships I've made. I cant't wait to watch them grow and develop new relationships next year. Look out for a "Hello 2015" post to welcome the new year!
Happy Holidays!

Caramel Apple Cider

published on Monday, November 17, 2014

Apple Cider is by far my favorite drink during the holidays. Here's a recipe for the best caramel apple cider ever! If you re-create this recipe don't forget to take pictures and tag me in them via Instagram and Twitter.

Prep Time: 15 mins.      Total Time:15 mins.      Servings;5

  • Ingredients:
    • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/3 cup whipping cream
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 4 cups apple cider
  • Garnishes
    • Additional whip cream
    • Caramel
    • Ground cinnamon

In a sauce pan, stir together the  brown sugar and whipping cream. On medium heat, heat for 2 minutes and stir constantly. When it becomes bubbly, stir in the vanilla and cider. Continue to heat for 10 minutes (just keep stirring, #DorieReference). After everything is thoroughly heated, let it cool for at least 3 minutes. Pour the mixture into your favorite cup, add your garnishes and sip away sistah!

Currently Inspired by: Nasty Gal's Vintage Chanel Lookbook

published on Wednesday, November 12, 2014

I'm a huge sucker for Chanel in general, but Nasty Gal's Lookbook took my obsession to a whole new level. I was getting my holiday wishlist together when I stumble across this fab tribute to vintage Coco.

This sporty look is super chic and full of bling.

Continuing with the sporty look, this tennis outfit is a little more girly.

This look is by far my favorite! How adorable is this all this pink?  I can't deal! The poodle was the icing on top of the Chanel cake!

What do you think of these throwback Chanel inspired looks?

Apple Pecan Pies

Apple pecan pies from A Beautiful Mess

How cute are these little apple pies? These adorable sweet treats, courtesy of my fab friends at A Beautiful mess are simple to make and even better to eat! Just in time for the cool autumn air, this recipe will warm you right up.

Apple Pecan Pies, makes 4-5 servings.
  • 2-3 apples (any variety, but firmer apples that hold up well when baked work best)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
Pecan pie filling

In a pot, combine the butter, sugar, and corn syrup. Stir over medium heat until combined, then increase the heat to bring to a boil. Allow to boil (a low, steady boil) for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in the pecans and vanilla extract. Let that cool while you prep the apples.

Once the apples are ready, go back to the filling. It should be cooler now. Stir in the egg and pour into each apple shell. I probably could have filled five shells, but I only did four and had a little filling left over. This will vary based on your apple size.
Bake at 350°F for 35-38 minutes. Allow to cool before eating.

Splash Celebration

published on Saturday, July 5, 2014

I hope everyone had an amazing Independence Day. I spent my day celebrating the birth of this great country at a family pool party. It's always fun to come together with the people you love and enjoy each others' company. Taking a dip in the pool is a great way to cool off in the scorching Texas heat. Comment below what you did on the 4th.

My Spring Essentials 2014: Fashion Edition

published on Tuesday, March 18, 2014

This spring I plan to continue with my extremely girly style but experiment with new pieces and styles. Here are some of my fashion spring essentials. I hope that they are inspiration for you ladies!

Lipsy Floral Pencil Dress

Floral Dress: You all know that I'm OBSESSED with flowers, it's my favorite thing about spring! In honor of my 2014 experimenting I'll be purchasing more dresses and skirts. Why not get it in your favorite print? Every girl should own a floral dress. It's innocently girly and goes with the season.

Glamorous Pleated Skater Skirt

Skater Skirts: Skater skirts are very feminine to me. They remind me of Ariana Grande and of course I'd want to dress like her!

Palazzo Pants: These bottoms scream vintage! The slim waist line and flared pant leg accentuates your curves and makes them appear smooth.

 Floral maxi skirt

Maxi Skirt: For those days when your feeling indi, a maxi skirt is the perfect piece.

I'd love to see some of your spring must haves. #SpringNeeds
